NHCC Laconia District Office

At the Laconia district office, services are offered in the form of individual and marriage counseling, comprehensive information about and referrals to resources in the area, and Parish and Community Outreach which engages Catholic Charities staff with parish and/or community groups to examine pressing social needs (poverty, aging, disability, hunger, etc.) and to develop volunteer driven responses rooted in gospel values.

Staff is always available to meet with parish and community representatives who are concerned with specific local needs.

Education programs and workshops are available by request, support groups are also arranged based on need, and Protecting God's Children classes are offered (a prerequisite for anyone in the diocese interested in working with youth). This district office also distributes toys for the Christmas Connections program during the Christmas season.

Some of the additional offerings at this district office include:

  • Brighter Tomorrows
    Brighter Tomorrows gives children the opportunity to come together with other children living with similar circumstances of loss, and a trained facilitator, to look at those issues with a cognitive / activity based approach.

  • Support Groups
    Separated/Divorce, Grief, Caregiver, Employment: service offered as needed

Christmas Connections Coordinator (Oct-Jan)
Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Assembling phone call inquiries for assistance
  • Coordinating family and donor gifts
  • Organizing and coordinating donor distributions
  • Communicating progress to staff and volunteers

Individual Development Account Coordinator
Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring application paperwork for clients is complete
  • Ensuring client progress is complete and reported
  • Communicating progress to staff and client

Information/Referral and Follow-up

  • Information intake
  • Appropriate referrals to services and programs
  • Verify compliance with I/R recommendations
  • Furnish further recommendations as needed
  • Communicate progress to staff

Casework and Follow-up:

  • Budget organization
  • Set up goals for self-sufficiency
  • Verify compliance with Casework Plan
  • Furnish further recommendations or revisions as needed
  • Mentor client
