ST. VINCENT DE PAUL REHABILITATION AND NURSING CENTER

St Vincent de Paul Rehabilitation and Nursing Center offers short-term patients and residents a warm and friendly atmosphere. Located in Berlin, the heart of the "North Country", St Vincent is less than 2 miles from Androscoggin Valley Hospital.

St Vincent de Paul Rehabilitation and Nursing Center has three distinct nursing units designated for residents according to care needs including short-term rehabilitation and skilled nursing, dementia and memory impairment, and long-term care. Almost two thirds of St. Vincent's 80 licensed beds offer private accommodations.

The sunny dining room overlooks an extensive enclosed garden area. The garden affords patients, visitors and residents the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors with a screened gazebo, canopied sitting area, wide walking paths and wheelchair height flower and vegetable planters.

Additionally, religious services are regularly provided in the chapel which is also available for patients, visitors, and residents seeking a quiet place for reflection.

Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Services
We provide rehabilitation therapy and nursing care for patients after hospitalization. Such "post acute" care is often needed after today's shorter hospital stays and may be appropriate following:

• General or cardiac surgery
• Joint replacement and orthopedic surgery
• Traumatic and brain injuries
• Strokes

We also provide complex nursing care for:

• Pain management
• Specialized skin and wound care
• Nutritional support and diabetes management

Hospice Care
Hospice or "palliative" care is available if curative or restorative care is no longer appropriate and desired for terminally ill individuals. Hospice care focuses on providing comfort and pain relief as well as pastoral support and counseling for patients and family.

Alzheimer's & Dementia Care
People with Alzheimer's or similar type of memory impairment usually benefit from a structured routine and supportive social environment separate from other long-term care residents.

Short-Term Respite Care
We provide short-term respite care when an at-home caregiver is temporarily unavailable or in need of extended personal time away.

Long-Term Care
Individuals with chronic illness or late-stage Alzheimer's disease are cared for with the goal that they attain their highest functional ability. Individualized care programs provide restorative and rehabilitation services as appropriate to achieve that goal.
